Camping with YoungChildren

Camping with YoungChildren

Pack up your tent, gather your supplies and prepare for a wonderful family camping experience. Camping with YoungChildren adds pleasure to camping fun. It is an opportunity to play, learn, and for families to devote total time to each other with a minimum amount of outside interference.

Family camping is a great opportunity to play games that teach. It is a time to give out chores to the children to help in the preparation of food. It is also a time for relaxation andrecreation.

Camping fun can start at home as you get ready for the trip. The children can help decide what "necessities" to pack and take in a limited amount of space. No time for video games if you are tent camping. Maybe a couple of practice sessions with the children before you set out on this family camping adventure. Let them see how to properly put up a tent while explaining tothem how important they are and how you "need" their help. When you arrive at the camp they will be willing and eager to help and will know what to do.

An expensive vacation may be fun at times, but camping fun cannot be replaced by the bells and whistles of expensive resorts. Family camping with youngchildren is quickly becoming the way to enjoy each other and our environment. Outdoor games are a great way to spend the time at the campground. Many campgrounds have fishing holes, lakes or ponds and who knows, you may catch your evening meal. Imagine how excited your children will be as they carry a string of fish back to the campsite.

Food is not an issue to create concern while camping. Planning your meals can also be a family event. Familiar foods work well at a campsite. Cereal for breakfast, soup, sandwiches, even salads can be eaten with no difficulty. To make this family camping trip exciting for everyone let the children choose what they may like to eat and introduce something new. If you purchase milk that can be kept on a shelf until it is opened, you won't need refrigeration until you have some left over. Then you can have cereal for breakfast. Omelets are another thing that children can make out in the woods. A couple of eggs in a zipper locked bag can be scrambled by hand and ingredientsthat you prepare at home can be added to the bag. Cook the eggs inside the bag in a pot of boiling water and you have omelets to suit everyone's taste.

The secret to cooking ease is doing the prep work for this family camping trip at home before you leave. Cut veggies or meats take less room and less time to prepare on your trip and will leave more time for camping fun.

Time for play on this wonderful camping trip? How about setting up a treasure hunt? A small list of woodsy items can be listed and hunted by the children with a great sense of adventure. Things in nature that they can learn as they play. Finding an oak leaf or a pine needle or a round rock that is shiny are all possibilities. Let your own imagination fly for this family camping adventure. It is a sure way to have camping fun and get everyone tired for a good nights sleep.

The children can be kings or queens. Taking some pine needles and making a wreath out of them with fresh leaves will lead to the prize of the day. The king of fishing or the queen of hunting would be some options. How about crowning the child that finds the most things on their treasure hunting list.

If family camping with youngchildren is new to your family, a little planning ahead of time will lead to a great weekend or week of camping fun. Just as we aren't born knowing all of the things involved incamping, neither are the children.

This is a great opportunity to teach fire safety. The children can gather the wood to build the fire and fill the water bucket to put it out when the time comes. Family activities on a familycamping trip will give you a new sense of understanding on how the childs mind works, or doesn't work.

Enjoy the opportunity that you have to watch your children grow and learn while having camping fun on a family camping trip. Don't let the opportunity pass you by. Start a new tradition for your family and enjoy yourself.
